From the classroom to the national stage, one of our former students is already making her mark in media with an award-winning production.
Former St David’s student Caitlin Phillips has won a Media Magazine award for her production, Unravelling the Art of Craft. We’re delighted to celebrate this fantastic achievement and see her work recognised on a national stage.
Caitlin, who graduated from the College last year, entered her work into the competition alongside more than 130 submissions from almost 60 schools and colleges.
Judges shortlisted just 27 students from all the entries across the different categories. Caitlin was one of those finalists and went on to win her category, Best Short or Opening 2026.
Caitlin created the film as part of her Media Studies course, bringing her ideas and creativity to the screen. The short showcases her planning and production skills, as well as the care she always puts into her work.
Having her work selected from so many entries is a well-deserved recognition of the effort Caitlin put into the film. As the Media department said, “Caitlin was a credit to the College, participating and always going above and beyond.”
Winning a national competition is a fantastic way for her to build on the work she completed during her time at St David’s, and it’s wonderful to see that work recognised beyond the College.
Caitlin’s success is also a great example of the creative opportunities available to our students and the chance they have to develop their skills and share their work outside the classroom.
