Student Life
Life at college is about more than what happens in the classroom. Students have the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of enrichment activities, develop new interests and meet people from different backgrounds.
Whether you’re taking part in sport, joining activities, getting involved in college events or simply spending time with friends, there are plenty of ways to make the most of your college experience.
These opportunities help students build confidence, develop new skills and become part of the college community.
Culture and Activities in the City
Being the capital city of Wales, Cardiff is full of culture – being both one of the smallest capital cities in the world and the city with the most castles in the world; The most famous of which stands tall in the heart of the city centre.
Cardiff is a sports-crazy city. The 74,000 seater Principality Stadium in the city centre is the home of Welsh Rugby, seeing a number of international matches played each year – big events in the calendar of any Cardiff local. It has also hosted rugby World Cups, international football and cricket matches, Speedway Grand Prix and a Champions League Final.
The bustling city centre of Cardiff has great shopping facilities and a wide range of restaurants. It also has the oldest record shop in the world, Spillers Records which dates back to 1894.
A weekend around the city centre isn’t complete without a walk through Cardiff’s Victorian Arcades, housing over 100 independent shops, cafes and restaurants.
Extra-Curricular Activities
Our extra-curricular programme offers plenty of activities, clubs, and societies for students to get involved with. Students help shape this programme every year through their interests, ideas, and energy.
Starting a society is simple, and students start new groups every year. To start a society, at least 6 people must want to join, and there must be a supporting teacher or staff member.
There are so many clubs and groups for you to join, from sports teams like Football and Basketball to groups like the Environmental Society, Filipino Society and the Law Society.
Day in the Life
Every day at college can look a little different. Your day might start with classes and time spent learning alongside your friends, followed by lunch and a chance to catch up with other students.
The afternoon could be spent getting involved in sport, enrichment activities or further study before heading into Cardiff after college. Whether you’re meeting friends, exploring the city or relaxing, there’s plenty to do beyond your studies.
It’s this balance of learning, activities, friendships and independence that makes student life such an important part of the college experience.
