It’s been a standout season for two academy players this year, with Olivia Barnett and Ellie Gunney leading the way for women’s football at St David’s College.
Olivia Barnett has been enjoying an impressive season with Pontypridd Town AFC Women, and featured in Sgorio’s goal of the month compilation for November, for a superb finish from outside the box against Port Talbot.
Her impressive football career so far, has seen her play for Wales at youth level including the prestigious Bob Docherty Home Nations Tournament while also being a standout performer at Cardiff University South Girls Performance Centre and Cardiff & Vale Schools – Olivia made he team for Wales Colleges against England on the 30th March.
A regular figure in our Saints Academy female side this year, Olivia has captained the side in all fixtures/events so far.
Well done, to Ellie Gunney on her selection to take part in the first Wales college training Camp. (Ellie has played for Wales at youth level at the Bob Docherty tournament, while also being selected for Cardiff & Vale Schools and Cardiff University South Girls Performance Centre
Ellie also plays for Pontypridd Town in the Adran Premier League and has been a regular force in their attack over the last few seasons. Ellie will receive her first cap on the 30th March.
Scoring five goals for the Saints Academy this year, Ellie has helped the girls get to the semi-final of the Wales 7v7 College tournament.

As much as these are individual accolades, our whole male and female pathway deserve a lot of credit for continuously working hard to better each other in training and games. We hope this is just the start of our players representing Wales Colleges. “
