Finance FAQ's

EMA is usually paid directly into your bank account. If you don’t have a bank account, you’ll need to open one which can accept BACS payments. We won’t pay to someone else’s account.

Payments are made on a Monday, fortnightly.

Please check the payment timetable for payment dates.

There may be occasional changes to payment dates depending on bank holidays etc.

No – You will only be paid for weeks in which the school is open, so you will not be paid for holiday weeks. In-service days or emergency closures (due to bad weather etc.) are not considered holidays for EMA purposes, and payment can be still made as long as your attendance is 100% for the rest of that week.

If you’ve not received a payment or you have received less than you were expecting, you should contact your Pastoral Tutor

If you are absent for any reason your parent/guardian must notify your Pastoral Tutor

• Authorised absences count as attendance.
• Absences are reviewed by the college.
• Illness can be self-certified for up to 5 days; medical evidence required after.
• Unauthorised absences may result in non-payment unless evidence is provided within 2 weeks.
• Holidays during term time are not eligible for EMA payment.
• Attendance appeals can be made by contacting ema@stdavidscollege.ac.uk.
• Dropping a subject could affect EMA entitlement; a minimum of 12 hours of attendance is required.
• The College ID badge must be worn on site at all times.
• I  must maintain respectful behaviour towards students, staff, and visitors.

Are you currently aware of any extenuating circumstances that may affect your attendance (for example, you help to provide care for a family member who is ill or disabled). You should inform your college if you become aware at any time of extenuating circumstances that may affect your attendance.

The only regular payment you may receive is £49 (4 weekly instalments) for transport (Please note you must reside further than 3 miles from the college).

Attendance must be maintained at 95%.

As long as you meet the eligibility criteria, yes you can get FCF.

Yes FCF will cover re-sits for any subject.

FCF will cover course-related equipment up to £50 at the beginning of your course.

All further amendments will be taken on an individual basis. These could include trips, leavers hoodies, extracurricular courses linked to the college.

No – FCF is separate from free school meals. Free school meals have their own separate eligibility criteria.

Yes, you must reapply and provide evidence to support your application.

£4 daily (to spend in the college canteen)

*Any changes to allocated funds during holidays will be relayed to students in advance.

No, your fund is reset daily and usable between 12pm and 4pm.

You must wear your college ID daily and this also acts as a payment card for the canteen.
