St David’s students and staff have been rolling up their sleeves this month to make a positive difference to the environment.
From tackling litter to planting bulbs and wildflower seeds, our learners have been making St David’s greener, cleaner and more welcoming for everyone.

Our incredible Environmental Society kicked off the month by taking part in Keep Wales Tidy’s Big Cardiff Tidy.

A total of 31 students and staff left college to tackle litter in the surrounding area, helping make the local environment cleaner for everyone.
By the end of the clean-up, the team had collected an impressive 15 bags of litter!
As well as making a real difference to the area around the college, the activity showcased the responsibility and pride our learners take in their local community.

And the Environmental Society didn’t stop there!
Last week, 26 students from the Environmental Society got their hands dirty once again. They planted more than 400 bulbs and hundreds of wildflower seeds in and around our college orchard.

These new additions will help support and increase biodiversity across campus, while bringing a welcome splash of colour to the orchard when they bloom.
The afternoon also gave students a chance to check on the trees some planted back in April.
The good news is that most of the trees have survived the challenging summer, and there’s even more to look forward to, with the Woodland Trust donating another 15 trees to the college.

From collecting litter to planting trees, our Environmental Society is helping to make a lasting difference to the college and its surroundings.
Students can visit the College Teams page to find out how to join the St David’s Environmental Society and get involved in future environmental projects.
