From celebrating individual achievements to bringing partner schools together, it was a fitting end to another memorable year of rugby at St David’s College.
Players and staff came together on Thursday, 19 June, for the Rugby Awards Evening, marking the end of the season before welcoming partner schools for a final day of competition.

The evening saw several players recognised for their performances and contributions throughout the year.

Ben O’Keefe enjoyed a memorable evening, picking up both the Men’s Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards. He also received the Captains’ Award alongside Seren Johnson and Ashley Cossa, recognising the leadership they have shown throughout the season.
The team celebrated Abu Kambi as Clubman of the Year, while Alfie Sumare received the Ironman Award after playing the most minutes during the season. Dan Lewis claimed the team’s Top Try Scorer award, while Gwen O’Brien earned the title of Women’s Player of the Year.

The awards were a fitting way to celebrate the players who have represented St David’s this year, as well as the wider squad whose commitment has helped make it another successful season.
The celebrations continued as St David’s welcomed partner schools for a Rugby Sevens Tournament.

Students from St Illtyd’s, Archbishop McGrath, Cardinal Newman, Blessed Carlo Acutis, Mary Immaculate, St Richard Gwyn and Corpus Christi took part in a day of competitive rugby, with teams competing across two pitches.
The tournament provided another opportunity for students from across the College’s partner schools to come together, enjoy the sport and build on the strong relationships between the schools.
Congratulations to Corpus Christi, who claimed victory in the tournament.

The College would also like to thank its rugby sponsors, Dudden Law, Fizz’ N‘ Flour Pizzeria, Aspire People, Whitehead Building Services, Rio Architects and BPS Facilities, whose support has helped make another successful season possible.
The Rugby Awards Evening and Sevens Tournament brought the season to a memorable close, celebrating the students, staff and schools who continue to make St David’s Rugby such an important part of College life.
