New collaboration will give students access to professional-level testing, analysis and support usually associated with elite sporting environments.
Students joining the St David’s rugby programme next season will have access to professional-level performance testing and analysis through an exclusive new partnership with local organisation PhysioSpace.
As part of the partnership, PhysioSpace will bring its specialist equipment and expertise to the college to test the first-team squad, giving players detailed performance data usually associated with elite sporting environments. This information will help shape training plans, support individual development and give students a clearer understanding of what it takes to prepare and perform at a higher level.

“When we decided to bring the rugby programme back into the college, our aim was to create something that felt ambitious, exciting and genuinely different for our students,” said Callum Hopkins, Head of Rugby at St David’s. “This partnership gives our players access to a level of insight and support that many young athletes don’t benefit from.”
“We’re extremely grateful to Ed and his team for their support,” added Hopkins. “The data provided by PhysioSpace will rival the kind of information available in professional environments and will give our players a real advantage in how they train, prepare and understand their own performance.”
“The use of data and statistics in rugby is still less common than in many other sports, so we’re proud to be offering something forward-thinking at college level,” he continued. “We want students to feel that if they choose St David’s, they are joining a programme that is serious about helping them grow both on and off the pitch. We’re also pleased to be working with a local organisation that shares our ambition to create meaningful opportunities for young people and strengthen the links between education, sport and local expertise.”
Edward Doe, Director of PhysioSpace, said the organisation was proud to support the next generation of young athletes through the partnership.

“At PhysioSpace, we’re passionate about creating opportunities for young people to develop, stay healthy and reach their potential through sport,” said Doe. “This partnership with St David’s College is about much more than performance; it’s about giving students access to expert, data-driven support, high-quality coaching and a positive environment where they can build confidence, improve physically and enjoy being part of a strong, supportive community. We want every student, regardless of their background or previous experience, to feel supported, challenged and excited about what they can achieve both on and off the pitch.”
The partnership forms part of St David’s wider commitment to developing a high-quality extra-curricular programme rooted in the college’s Catholic ethos, where every student is valued and encouraged to flourish. By providing access to exceptional opportunities, expert support, and an ambitious sporting environment, the college aims to ensure that young people can challenge themselves, improve their performance, and be part of something distinctive within college sport, regardless of their background.
