Learners Raise Over £200 for Charity with Cake Sales and Esports

Raising an impressive total of over £200, learners mixed their effort and skills in cake sales and gaming competitions to support worthy charitable causes. The raised amounts distributed among four notable charities are Macmillan Cancer Care, Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital, Little Princess Trust and Maggie’s Cancer Charity.

The cake sale alone raised £87.44 and was split equally between the four charities. As a result, each organization received £21.86. A sweet success for the learners of the cake sale, highlighting the college community’s positive attitude toward making a difference whilst satisfying their taste buds for a good cause. Meanwhile, the learner-led Esports competitions delivered an additional boost to the charitable efforts, generating a total of £130. All proceeds from the gaming tournaments were donated to Maggie’s Cancer Charity.

The Esports line-up spanned four days of exciting competitions for learners, showcasing a blend of skills throughout popular video games. On the 21st and 22nd of October, the Fall Guys Final Showdown Tournament kicked things off with a high-energy contest, where learners paid £2 entry to the competition for a prize pool of five £10 Amazon vouchers. Following that, the 23rd of October featured the Minecraft Build Battles, where learners paid another £2 entry fee to showcase their quick-thinking building skills to win a £20 Amazon voucher.

The high-octane Mario Kart Mavericks Tournament on the 24th of October drew a large crowd of enthusiastic racers, with a £3 entry fee and an enticing prize pool of £20, £15, and £10 Amazon vouchers for the top three drivers. Wrapping up the end of the gaming competitions was the Roblox Cyber Clash on the 25th of October, where players entered for £2 to compete for two £10 Robux vouchers and a variety of sweets.

The charitable efforts combined from the learner-led cake sales and gaming competitions showcased these learners’ passion for creating positive impacts within our College community, successfully turning gaming and treats into tangible support for those in need.
