A collection of business leaders and education leaders gathered for St David's Symposium Breathes Innovation in Catholic Education

Education leaders, practitioners and stakeholders from across the Catholic Education sector came together for St David’s symposium for Innovation in Catholic Education.

Organised by St David’s at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, the symposium explored the future of Catholic education in an evolving educational landscape.

It provided a valuable springboard for collaboration, reflection, and professional dialogue – bringing together knowledge from across the sector to discuss both the opportunities and challenges facing Catholic education today.

Delegates showcased a series of presentations designed to share best practices. Among the guest speakers was Geraint Williams, Principal, who initiated the conversation by examining ‘the changing post-16 education landscape’ – highlighting the opportunities it presents for colleges and learners alike.

Additionally, Paul White addressed the challenges currently facing Catholic education. Encouraging delegates to consider how institutions can respond proactively and navigate an increasingly complex educational environment.

Karen Phillips, Learner Area Manager/Director of Formation and Ruth Jones, Vice Principal, then shared insights into online teaching and learning pedagogy. They demonstrated how digital innovation continues to enhance teaching practices and improve student engagement.

Furthermore, Padraic Hogan, co-founder of Nurture, explored innovative solutions and future directions for Catholic education. Encouraging delegates to embrace new ideas while remaining rooted in the core values that define Catholic education.
