The Catenians Public Speaking Competition, held at St David’s College on Sunday March 3rd, witnessed a display of remarkable eloquence and confidence from participating students. Hosted by the Cardiff Circle of Catenians, a nationwide philanthropic organization of Catholic men and their families, the event has become a cherished tradition, fostering strong ties between the college and the community.

Eight students from St David’s College delivered outstanding presentations, demonstrating both skill and composure on stage. The supportive atmosphere cultivated among the contestants, who provided exemplary peer encouragement, added to the success of the competition.

Among the participants were Georgia Graham, Seren Hughes, Molly Jones, Glory Lalu, Rhys LeConte, Thabo Victor Mhlanga, Esha Roopesh, and Lana Smart. Their dedication and preparation were evident throughout the event, reflecting positively on the College’s commitment to nurturing public speaking prowess.

Seren Hughes, Georgia Graham, and Esha Roopesh emerged as the top three winners, securing first, second, and third place respectively. Their exceptional performances showcased not only their individual talents but also the overall excellence of the participants from St David’s College.

The competition drew a crowd of enthusiastic supporters, including the contestants’ families and friends, as well as esteemed staff members such as Mrs. Helen Fisher, Mr. Paul Thomas, Dr. Rhys Tranter, and Dr. Tom Constant. Mrs. Fisher’s efforts in liaising with the Catenians and organizing the event were instrumental, while Mr. Thomas’s guidance played a crucial role in preparing the students for the competition.
