From Barcelona to Uganda and Tanzania, international opportunities at St David’s College gave students the chance to learn, serve and grow beyond the classroom.
Each journey offered something unique, providing opportunities to experience different cultures, build new relationships and broaden horizons.
Together, they left students with memories and experiences that will stay with them for years to come.
As part of the trip to Spain, some of our students travelled to Barcelona for a week-long programme centred around enterprise and culture.

The learners had the opportunity to work with local businesses to develop marketing campaigns and put their business minds to the test in a real-world setting.
Reflecting on the workshop, student Mia Willecome described it as a “really interesting project” which “tested all of our skills.”
Alongside the programme, there was also plenty of time for the group to explore the city, learn about its history and experience the culture first-hand.

Highlights included the iconic Sagrada Família and the beautiful Montjuïc Fountain.
Further from home, a group of our Creative Arts and Maths students spent two weeks in Uganda.

During the trip, the Creative Arts group set about transforming a learning space for pupils at Kangulumira Roman Catholic Primary School.
Over the course of the visit, they cleaned, sanded, prepared and painted the room, added educational murals to the walls and even planted a garden.
At the same time, our Maths learners supported pupils through classroom teaching and activities.

Reflecting on the visit, Father Benny Dennis described it as a “grace-filled experience”, adding that the “children welcomed us with smiles that seemed untouched by the hardships they faced.”
Alongside their work in local schools, our learners also had time to experience Uganda’s remarkable landscapes and wildlife.
One of the highlights of the trip was a safari, offering students the chance to see some of the country’s incredible wildlife.
It was also a memorable fortnight for our students who travelled to Tanzania.

The learners spent much of their time supporting children at Usa Primary School.
They helped to improve conversational English, established a vegetable garden and created signs promoting education and discouraging violence.

Like the other trips, there was also time to explore the local area.
Alongside a safari, the group visited a coffee and banana plantation, gaining a greater insight into everyday life and culture in Tanzania.
Although each trip was different, they all gave our students the chance to learn, serve and experience life beyond the classroom.
From developing business skills in Barcelona to working alongside local schools in Uganda and Tanzania, our learners returned with new perspectives, stronger friendships and memories that will stay with them for years to come.
We’re incredibly proud of the way our students represented St David’s throughout each visit, embracing every opportunity with enthusiasm, kindness and respect. We’d also like to thank the staff who gave their time to make these unforgettable experiences possible.
