St David’s Alumni, Jeremiah Azu, is the European U23 100m Champion.
Jeremiah Azu is definitely the fastest person to ever study at St David’s College.
The Cardiff sprinter stormed to win gold in the 100m at the European Under-23 Championships in Talinn.
Winning the final with a time of 10.25, he finished over a metre ahead of the second place runner.
In the heats, Jeremiah ran a PB time of 10.19 seconds, making him the second fastest Welsh man of all time, over 100m. The current Welsh record is 10.11 seconds.
The gold medal was redemption for Jeremiah, after an injury during the U19 Junior 100m final two years ago, while a student of St David’s.
After the race, Jeremiah said: “It feels so good. It is such a relief because last time I was here I didn’t walk off the track, but I am so grateful that I have done it this time. It was 100% what I came here for. I was only ranked eighth coming into this final, so I have kept under the radar a bit, but I felt I had it in there.”
