Sports Coaching & Development BTEC Level 3
The Sports Coaching & Development BTEC Level 3 Diploma equals two A Levels and 120 credits. This course provides students with an introduction to and development of knowledge and skills appertaining to the sports and fitness industries. This course includes coaching techniques, performance analysis, and health promotion strategies. Students will gain practical experience and invaluable insights into the professional world of Sports.
The course aims to peak learners’ interest in and enjoyment of the diverse sports industry. Developing practical and coaching skills in multiple sports helps to diversify learners’ skills effectively. This course provides an appropriate and supportive environment for those who wish to progress into employment within this dynamic industry. Additionally, it generates exciting opportunities to go on to higher-level qualifications, such as HND or degree courses at university.
The first year’s units will include Careers in the Sport and Active Leisure Industry, Health, Wellbeing and Sport and Developing Coaching Skills. However, second-year units will consist of Applied Coaching Skills, Sports Development, Self-employment in Sport, Physical Activity and more.
The course provides learners with specialist knowledge and technical skills, enabling entry to an apprenticeship or employment directly within the sports setting. Students will engage in practical activities, develop critical thinking abilities, and gain insights into industry standards and practices. This comprehensive approach prepares them for a successful career within the sports industry.
All units are assessed and graded ‘pass’, ‘merit’, or ‘distinction’ and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded. There are no examinations.
The Diploma consists of 7 units delivered over two years.

5 C’s at GCSE, or vocational equivalent qualifications. If taken, a merit or above in BTEC Level 2 Sport.
