Launchpad, pastoral staff, and learners provide recipes for success to encourage learners toward independence after college. The booklet, prepared for Goodbye & Good Luck, features easy-to-prepare, budget-friendly meals that promote healthy eating and cooking skill development.
Ms. Thomas, Pastoral Tutor, expressed her thoughts about the event:
“During the Goodbye & Good Luck event, students shared how helpful the recipe booklet would be at university and how it serves as a meaningful keepsake to remember their time at St David’s College.” Safaa and Allyson felt delighted to see their recipes at the event. Allyson shared how she used to make her dish, Arroz Caldo, with her grandmother. Arroz Caldo is a traditional Filipino dish rich in flavour.
The booklet includes 16 cooking recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert. The breakfast menu offers four recipes: Shakshuka, Morning Bagels, Arroz Caldo, and Yam & Egg Sauce. For lunch, learners can try dishes like Prawn Garlic Butter Linguine, Ful Medames, Fajita Chicken Pasta, and Salmon & Egg Bagels.
Dinner options feature Vegan Sausage and Tomato Pasta, Chicken Fajitas, Arrabiata, Curry, Garlic Pasta, and Chilli Con Carne. Finally, the dessert section provides two satisfying treats: Brioche French Toast and a classic Fruit Crumble.
Alongside the recipes, this booklet includes advice from Mrs. Reypert, Mrs. Bird, Mrs. Brewster, Father Benny, Miss O’Brien, and Miss Hampshire. They emphasise the importance of practical life skills in addition to academic preparation. These words help to guide students through the next stage of their lives after college and instil confidence in their independence.
Whether you are a beginner in the kitchen or seeking simple, affordable meal ideas, we hope this booklet serves as a great starting point. You will find invaluable advice alongside the recipes to support you in managing your studies, work, and life beyond college.
