St. David’s Catholic College has announced a refreshed Senior Leadership Team (SLT) structure in preparation for the launch of its new strategic plan, Spirit and Truth 2025–2029, expected to be formally approved by Governors this July.
The restructuring reflects the college’s renewed mission to nurture learners in “faith, wisdom, and integrity,” while meeting its ambitious objectives across sustainability, learner success, and inclusive Catholic education.
Principal Geraint Williams, who also serves as the college’s Chief Executive, will lead a newly formed Learner Experience Team, focusing on enriching student life through coordinated efforts in academic support, wellbeing, enrichment activities, and learner voice, ensuring a holistic and impactful student experience.
Among the most significant changes is the appointment of Associate Principal Lynne Cleary to lead the newly established area of Sustainable Stewardship. This role aligns with the college’s commitment to environmental responsibility, inspired by Pope Francis’ Laudato Si, and will oversee ongoing estate development and the college’s capital programme in line with net-zero goals.
Assistant Principal Batool Akmal will line manage the newly appointed Academic Dean, supporting learners’ holistic academic development while leading on learner culture and community ethos.
Vice Principal Mark Breslin retains his IT, data, assessment, and funding strategy leadership, and now adds functional responsibilities such as reprographics and learner resources. He will also collaborate with Ruth Jones on the college’s growing international programme.
Rachel Singleton steps into the Vice Principal and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) role, expanding her current oversight of finance, student, and catering services to include risk, compliance, and audit, reinforcing the college’s financial resilience and governance.
Vice Principal Ruth Jones becomes the college’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) with additional responsibility for international students and the Dean of Vocational Learning and Skills line management, broadening her strategic remit to further develop the college’s inclusive learning offer.
A new addition to the SLT is Haley Hughes, Director of Learning Support and ALNCo, who joins to ensure that learners with Additional Learning Needs are fully considered in all college decision-making processes, upholding the college’s commitment to inclusion and equity, in line with the strategic plan’s focus on inclusive education.
The restructuring marks a significant milestone as St David’s prepares to implement Spirit and Truth 2025–2029, a plan rooted in Catholic social teaching and focused on faith, sustainability, learner formation, and community belonging. This reflects the college’s vision to be “a beacon of faith and learning.” The new leadership configuration positions St David’s to meet future challenges with unity, purpose, and courage.
