The BTEC Level 2 in Esports is a qualification for post-16 learners that prepares students for work, further education, or an apprenticeship, by giving them the opportunity to develop sector-specific knowledge, and technical and practical skills, and to apply these skills in work-related environments. The qualification can also provide progression to study a level 3 qualification in Esports.

The Esports industry is a fast-growing global industry, defined as organised competitive gaming, which is human vs human, either as individuals or in teams. This qualification has been developed in close conjunction with leading employers and includes and develops transferable workplace skills, such as effective communication and the ability to work in teams, which employers identify as essential for gaining employment and progressing in the sector.

This program will equip students with the skills and knowledge to succeed in a variety of roles within the Esports industry, including professional gaming, event management and broadcasting.

Students from Catholic High Schools have priority places on Level 2 courses

Learners will complete 5 mandatory units over the two years:

  • Esports Games, Teams and Tournaments
  • Establishing an Esports Organisation
  • Streaming for Esports
  • Plan for an Esports Event
  • Start an enterprise in Esports

and 1 optional unit from the list:

  • Design an Esports Game
  • Positive Health and Well-being in Esports

All assessment is completed via coursework projects and assignments marked by the teacher. There are no exams in this course.

Upon completion of the course, students can continue their education by pursuing a Level 3 course in Esports, Information Technology, or Business Studies.

Additionally, students will have the opportunity to pursue various career paths in the Esports industry, such as professional gaming, event management, broadcasting, game development, or starting your own Esports related business.

Whatever path you choose, the Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Esports will provide you with the knowledge and transferable skills to succeed in an exciting and rapidly growing industry.

4 grade ‘D’s at GCSE (or equivalent vocational courses), including Maths and English.

Please note that your place on the course is not automatic at enrolment. As part of your application, you will be required to submit a supporting statement outlining your interest in Competitive Gaming and the industry surrounding it, including areas such as (but not limited to); Competitive Analysis, Branding, Video Production, Games Design, Events Management, Health & Fitness and Shout-casting.

 

Students will be required to submit a MS Form answering amended versions:

  • What experiences or skills do you have in Esports?
