Leavers' Ceremony 2016

On Thursday 8th September, approximately 300 students, staff and family members filled St David’s Metropolitan Cathedral for our forth annual Leavers’ Ceremony.

The evening began with a welcome address by the chaplain, and opening remarks Canon Peter Collins, Cathedral Dean. This was followed by ‘Souvenir d'Enfance’ performed by student Shu Yin Gan.

Awards were then given to pupils who demonstrated particularly outstanding studentship in individual subjects throughout the academic year 2015 - 2016.  This was followed by a Valedictory address given by Bethan Lenz. Bethan concluded her speech by saying: “on behalf of the students who are leaving College this year, I would like to thank everyone at St David's who has guided and supported us; helping us to become mature and independent, so that we are ready to begin the next chapter in our lives with confidence and optimism. ” To read the full version of her speech, please click here.

After another musical interlude by Kate Parry, the College awards and Scholarships were presented. This year the scholarships included the introduction of two new awards, named in memory of Ishaq Ahmed and Alesha O'Connor.

The Chair of Governors and the College Principal ended the evening with closing remarks and a blessing was given. The ceremony was brought to a close with a rendition of ‘Bring Him Home’  sang by St David’s student Kieren Rankin.
