St David's Performing Arts performing their pantomime

Last week, the BTEC Performing Arts Upper Sixth group at St David’s College has been delighting local primary schools with their production of Little Red, an adaptation of Little Red Riding Hood from the adaptation Sheep Chronicles by Greg Ashton.

The students have performed their engaging adaptation for pupils from Roath Park, Glyncoed, and other local primary schools, showcasing their creativity and dedication.

What makes this production particularly special is that the students were responsible for every aspect of the show. As part of their BTEC curriculum, they formed their own mini theatre company, taking charge of all elements of the production — from choreography and costume design to set construction and technical direction. They even managed the outreach and coordination with local schools, ensuring a seamless community engagement experience.

“This project has been a wonderful opportunity for our students to not only refine their performing arts skills but also to develop invaluable experience in teamwork, project management, and creative leadership,” said Mr Parker for the Performing Arts Department.

The performances have been met with enthusiasm from both the young audiences and their teachers, with the vibrant retelling of the classic tale leaving a lasting impression.
St David’s College is proud of the Upper Sixth Performing Arts students for their hard work and creativity, and for using their talents to connect with the wider community.
