Creating Young Role Models - Learners participate in Elevate's Mentoring Training Session

Over the past two weeks, learners at our college have participated in peer mentoring training sessions to provide them with invaluable skills to support their peers, facilitated by the Elevate team.

This engaging and interactive approach throughout these workshops aims to equip learners with resilience, empathy, and understanding across the college community.

The training was delivered over two impactful sessions, focusing on three key areas:

  • Building Connections: Students were taught effective communication and active listening techniques to help them form meaningful relationships and offer genuine support to their peers.
  • Problem-Solving Strategies: The sessions provided learners with confidence and strategies to navigate challenges, including managing stress and assisting peers in handling their struggles.
  • Leadership Development: Training focused on empowering learners as role models, highlighting the significance of promoting well-being and fostering a supportive college community.

Students from various year groups engaged enthusiastically with the program, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Many participants shared that they felt the sessions gave them practical mentoring tools and a deeper understanding of mental health and how to manage it effectively.

One student noted, “This training has shown me how I can make a difference in someone else’s life. I feel more confident in supporting my friends and classmates.”

This partnership with Elevate represents a significant step forward in the college’s ongoing commitment to student well-being and peer-led initiatives. We are excited to see how our newly trained mentors apply their skills to make a meaningful impact within our community.

Thank you to Elevate for their expertise and dedication and our learners for showcasing such enthusiasm and openness.
